HUGE VICTORY FOR FIRST AMENDMENT COALITION OF ARIZONA!

The Arizona Supreme Court on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, affirmed the public's right to obtain metadata, that is, data about data within electronic records kept by public officials. Steve Doig, Knight Chair in Journalism at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, explains metadata and its significance.

The First Amendment Coalition of Arizona has been supported since 1981 by the AZ Broadcasters Association, AZ Newspapers Association, AZ Cable Telecommunications Association, Arizona Press Club and Society of Professional Journalists.

 

The FAC also maintains the legal hotline for journalists at our member radio and television stations at 602-351-8000 with free advice and help for any problem with open meeting law or public records law.
