April 14ABA Goes to Washington

March 27-April 3 was a very intense, busy and enjoyable week. Two days were devoted to NASBA (National Alliance of State Broadcasters Associations) meetings and networking with all heads of the state associations. Which included the fifth annual NASBA & NAB EAS Summit that featured high level speakers and panelists from Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, FCC & NOAA and everyone else concerned with the next generation of emergency notification. Next, was the NAB State Leadership Conference, attended by myself, ABA board Chairman John Misner, ABA Secretary/Treasurer, Blaine Kimball and ABA board member Rich Howe. This is my favorite NAB conference of the year because of its focus on the issues affecting our industry in Congress and the FCC. Closing out the trip, the ABA delegation then spent two days on Capitol Hill, meeting with each Arizona Congressional Representative/Senator and key staff.

Being in our Capitol city and seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom is always a great part of the trip!
