| Description: | POSITION OPPORTUNITY DIRECTOR / EDITOR Description: Responsible for the on-the-air presentation and finished editing and taping of programs, newscasts and announcements. 1. Rehearse and pull together various program elements that make up programs, newscasts or announcements. 2. Block program elements in advance so they can be fitted together artistically and efficiently. 3. Determine camera angles, lighting and set arrangement. 4. Call out scripting directions during a live news broadcast. 5. Responsible for switching error-free on a Grass Valley Calypso on-air execution in accordance with the station standard. 6. Produce and edit Creative Services projects, such as Tucson Treasures, commercials, promos and marketing spots. Qualifications: College degree in communication, journalism or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years television news producing/directing experience preferred. Intrinsic artistic sense of news delivery. Functional working knowledge of studio and location equipment including studio lighting technique and equipment, Teleprompter, studio cameras, Chyron, still-store, switcher, current effects, generators, remote cameras, off-line and Non-linear editing equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to direct technical crewmembers positively and effectively. Knowledge of script writing, video editing and interviewing techniques. Ability to think and react quickly to breaking news situations. Extreme attention to detail. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to view several incoming video monitors and speak directions to all technical crew. May be required to work weekends and nights. |
