FCC Schedules Final FM Translator Filing Window – Inside Radio

The Federal Communications Commission will ring in 2018 with the fourth and final planned translator filing window. It has set Jan. 25-31 as the next spectrum land rush for owners of any AM station—including Class A and B stations that were excluded from last summer’s filing window—to apply for an FM translator. The one big caveat that remains is the broadcaster can’t have participated in either the Jan. or July 2016 translator filing windows or the during the July-Aug. 2017 window.


Report: Disney, Fox Close in on Deal – Broadcasting and Cable

After breaking off talks about a month ago, The Walt Disney Co. and 21st Century Fox are reportedly close to a deal that would bring Fox’s movie studio and select cable channels to the Magic Kingdom in a deal valued at about $60 billion.


Telemundo To Buy 13 TV Stations From ZGS Communications – Forbes

NBC Universal’s Telemundo Station Group has struck a deal to acquire 13 television stations from ZGS Communications, Inc., which owns and operates the Telemundo affiliates.


FCC to Review National Cap, UHF Discount – TV Technology

A vote has been scheduled for a review of the 39 percent national TV station audience reach cap, aka national cap, per a statement from FCC Chairman Ajit Pai. In the official order circulated to the FCC commissioners, Pai is proposing a review of the national cap and the UHF discount that could lead result in modified, retained or eliminated regulations.
